Coincidentally ran into a monk this afternoon. I’d climbed the monastery walls to get a closer look at their garden and talk to their bees. I wanted some flowers for the inn, and I figured monk bees would know where to find them.
Anyway, after walking around the monastery for a while… They have the smallest bedrooms! And a beautiful chapel! And bellows that make music when you press little white and black levers!
So there I was, deep in thought about what kind of flowers we need, and out of nowhere, this monk appeared. Nice fellow. Not very chatty. Wouldn’t even tell me his name. Just pointed a lot and waved his hands.

I got the gist of what he meant, though, so once we were out in the garden, I told him all about the pasta in the forest. He was clearly impressed. I poked around the cabbage patch to see if I could find animated pasta so he could see himself, but all I could find were a few tiny amulets, a bottle of communion wine, two candles, a loaf of coarse bread, and a couple of worms. Strange place to store all that stuff, a cabbage patch, but I don’t know a lot about monks.
He seemed disappointed that I couldn’t find an animated pasta, but his eyes grew wide at all the other things I pulled out of the garden. He was so excited that he ran off to tell the other monks. I wanted to see the looks on their faces, but I saw that dragon with a stubby squirrel tail and decided to follow him for a bit.
I should have grabbed some carrots as long as I was there.
